The Cape Breton Island Joint Training Committee (JTC) is committed to continuously train members of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, Local 1588. The JTC, consists of four trustees; two management and two union representatives.

This page outlines courses that are provided, free of charge (at this time) to Union Members. As well as these courses, members are encouraged to take advantage of carpentry related training provided by Community Colleges, Technical Institutes and Private Training Providers. The JTC also works together with the Department of Education to provide apprenticeship training, and encourages members to write the exam for Journeyman’s Carpentry papers.
