LOCAL 1588 PARTICIPATES IN NORTH AMERICAN OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY WEEK * MAY 5th - 11th, 2002 *

On April 22, 2002, Local 1588 Launched it's Occupational Health and Safety awareness Program. Grade 6 students from 3 Cape Breton schools have been asked to give Safety Tips. Three students from each class will be chosen to have the top tips in their class, and will receive a Safety Tips T-shirt

The Class that has the top Safety Tip will receive a Pizza Party from the Carpenters Union Local 1588.

May 5 - 11th is North American Occupational Health and Safety Week The Safety Tips gathered in the 3 schools will be used in our Radio Campaign.

The 3 schools participating are: Cusack Elementary - Sydney
Greenfield Elementary - River Ryan
Seton Elementary - North Sydney

Throughout the day during OHS Week the 3 local radio stations (CJCB, K94 fm and Oldies 950) will randomly play a 60 second spot highlighting a "Safety Tip of the Day".

A logo was designed for this event and will be used on the T-shirts and also stickers to be given to all students who participate in the Safety Tip Campaign along with all members of Local 1588.
